Stew Smith and Heroes of Tomorrow
About the Heroes of Tomorrow
www.HeroesOfTomorrow.org is developed by Stew Smith, CSCS of
www.stewsmith.com
, a former Navy SEAL and fitness author who developed a database of workouts designed to help people pass the physical fitness standards of several military occupations and law enforcements agencies.
Certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association,
Stew Smith is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has worked as an
instructor at the
U.S. Naval
Academy. Stew saw the caliber of students who were selected to attend the four year military college. Amazed that over 50% of the incoming freshman class failed to meet the minimum physical requirements of the Navy Physical Fitness Test (PFT), he began to investigate the present physical levels of the “heroes of tomorrow” in other military branches and law enforcement agencies. It was not shocking to learn that as our nation grows increasingly overweight and obese, our young men and women who seek military or law enforcement careers are doing the same and failing even the minimum physical standards.
Stew Smith saw this as a serious, strategic issue of national importance. IF many our young people are not capable enough to perform 20 push-ups, or 40 sit-ups or run a mile in under 7-8 minutes, how will
they perform physically demanding jobs and protect the safety of our nation in a time of war, civil unrest, natural disasters, or for the unforeseeable future – fight terrorism?
This site is dedicated to creating a community where we honor the heroes of
yesterday and today who are either serving presently, have served in the past,
or the thousands of firefighters, law enforcement officers and military
personnel who gave their lives protecting the citizens of the United States and
the world.
Our primary goal is to help in any way those young men and women who seek a career in the armed forces, law enforcement, or public safety. We know that any training to become a “hero of tomorrow” is stressful, but it is proven that if you are properly prepared physically to enter your choice of training, that you will be able to accomplish the following:
1) Greater chance of graduating 2) Be less stressed at physical events 3) In fact, physical events are stress relievers, not stress increasers 4) Have greater ability and confidence to learn your profession 5) Develop a mindset where striving for the minimums is not an option 6) Be strong enough to compete - not merely survive training
Through our message boards, we hope to create a community of veterans sharing
experiences and young people seeking advice about their future desires to serve our great country in one capacity or another. So, help us build our database of physical training tests for state, county and city law enforcement, military special courses, and fire fighters and public safety course. We will help you by creating programs to prepare you physically for any challenge that you may face in your training or job.
About The Founder
The founder of www.heroesoftomorrow.org, Stew Smith CSCS, is a Naval Academy graduate, former Navy SEAL and author of
six fitness and self defense books and more than 35 fitness test ebooks geared toward military
/ law enforcement fitness. He developed his website –
www.stewsmith.com in 1998 and has created hundreds of programs he used to personally train military, special forces, law enforcement, and beginners alike to become more physically fit and healthy. After September 11, he used his writing and Navy SEAL training as a security consultant helping to secure some of America’s largest cities, transportation terminals, ports, and national monuments.
After seeing many of his students perform excellently at schools such as Ranger School, FBI Academy, SEAL training, and boot camp, he realized that our young men and women
needed to know how to train properly prior to attending these challenging schools. Through his published books and downloadable eBooks, he has helped
hundreds of thousands perform better at their training and enabled many to handle the physical rigors of their job.
Stew Smith resides outside of Annapolis, MD where he is involved in the Naval Academy Admissions Department / Physical training programs.
He also offers FREE training to military and law enforcement personnel who can
